How do I check what type of Wi-Fi network my organization uses?

If you'd like to check what type of Wi-Fi network your organization uses to ensure that it is one of the Owl's supported Wi-Fi networks, follow the steps below for your device:

  • Windows
    • Click the Wi-Fi Connection icon in the taskbar. Select Properties underneath your current Wi-Fi connection. Scroll down, and look for the Wi-Fi details under Properties. Within Wi-Fi details, look for Security Type, which displays your Wi-Fi's protocol.
  • Mac
    • Hold down the Option key and click on the Wi-Fi icon in the toolbar. It will show your network details, including what security type you're on.
  • Android
    • Go into Settings, then open the Wi-Fi category. Select the router you're connected to and view its details. It will state what security type your connection is. 
    • These instructions may differ depending on your device.

  • iOS
    • Unfortunately, there is no a way to check which Wi-Fi security type you are connected to on iOS. If possible, we recommend checking on a computer or another device.
